Synopsis

The Lab has previously worked on the extensive board game, ‘The Poll’ that released in January 2019. Addressing the circus that is the Indian elections, the board game simulates how political parties fight and win elections, against the backdrop of liberal democracy.

Received well both Internationally as well as in India, The Civic Games Lab is now stepping into the arena of digital citizenship. With a card game and a Play Store game titled ‘Digital Naagrik’ releasing in January 2021, the game aims to contextualize the use of the internet under the larger scheme of rights and privacy.

This game will therefore apprise users of the fact that living in the world of the digital, comes with its own set of challenges that are different from the conventional notions of citizenship.

Credits

‘Krtika’ is a product of the Civic Games Lab, a project led under the New Delhi based NGO, SMART. The NGO was established in 1997, and works with vulnerable communities to create awareness and empower them to speak up and stand up for their rights and entitlements.

This game has been created and conceptualized by Abeer Kapoor, a young game designer who has built ‘The Poll’ in 2019, an Indian election game that stimulated how political parties fight and win elections.

‘Kritika’ has been built with support from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, a German not-for-profit establishment committed to the idea of freedom and dignity for all in over sixty nations.
